John Steele - john.steele@newlife.org.nz

John and Julie share a passion for strengthening leaders and churches and have considerable experience ministering in New Zealand and the nations. Motivated by a great love for the local church and their pastors, John enjoys giving himself to see the Church come to a new level. This is accompanied by a desire to see the Holy Spirit bringing gifted ministries forward. John believes in the generation that the Lord is now bringing forth and loves to see them mentored and released in their giftings.

 

Wes Chambers - wes.chambers@newlife.org.nz

Wes and Janet have led Living Waters Christian Centre in Christchurch for the past sixteen years. Wes has a passion for the presence and manifest power of the Holy Spirit to change and empower people, leaders and churches. He is also passionate about equipping the saints and developing leaders who know who they are in Christ and what they carry to extend the Kingdom of God. Wes has a heart to be part of the team leading New Life churches into a powerful and effective future.

 

David Elder - david.elder@newlife.org.nz

David and Robyn have pastored New Life churches in Auckland and Invercargill since the mid 1980's. David is passionate about local churches carrying the burden for the lost of the nations. He is convinced that strong healthy churches need to be led by strong healthy leaders. As well as effectively serving the New Life pastors and churches of the Southland Region over several years, David and Robyn have been sought after to minister to pastors and leaders in numerous nations.

 

Lynne Frew - lynne.frew@newlife.org.nz

Lynne, assisted by her husband Peter, was Senior Pastor of Life Christian Centre, Rangiora for eleven years, raising up young leaders passionate for God. Lynne's heart is to encourage individuals, pastors and churches to encounter God and courageously stretch into the fullness of their call. Having helped develop and lead new initiatives over the 6 years she has served NLCNZ, Lynne is passionate to see New Life step up to a fresh Spirit inspired momentum, effectively impacting NZ and beyond.

Jim and Anneke have been the Senior Pastors of Manukau New Life Church for over twenty years, previously assisting David McCracken for seven years. Jim is a preacher/teacher with a passion to see people, marriages and families restored. Their multi ethnic, multi generational church is passionate for the presence of God, passionate to reach youth and immigrants. Jim has a vision for a powerful, disciple making church that impacts cities and nations.

 

Adam White - adam.white@newlife.org.nz

Adam and his wife Anita are the Senior Pastors of the Meadows Church on the Kapiti Coast. They have been in fulltime ministry for nineteen years, ten of which were spent in India. Returning to NZ in 1999, they have seen the Meadows Church grow steadily with congregations in both Paraparaumu and Otaki. With a love for the local church and a heart for the nations, Adam and Anita are excited about what the future holds for New Life. (more info at: www.meadows.org.nz)

 

 Stephen Miller - stephen.miller@newlife.org.nz 
   Stephen is based at Manukau New Life and helps lead and run the New Life Youth initiative which is committed to raising up a new generation of leaders and pastors within the New Life churches.  He is married to Susan and has six wonderful children.  Stephen is also involved in various community groups, chairing the Manurewa Youth Workers Network and working with local and national government at on the challenges that face the youth of South Auckland.

 

ALT Responsibilities 

  • To apostolically lead and inspire NLCNZ to effectively impact this nation and beyond for Christ through the empowering of the Holy Spirit
  • To identify and appoint a leader from among them. This leader will be someone who is gifted to passionately inspire and clearly articulate vision while also carrying a deposit in God for relating to people. The leader is leader of the Team, the Team serves and leads the Movement
  • To connect NLCNZ with apostolic/prophetic ministries
  • To build honouring relationships with senior/itinerant New Life Leaders
  • To relationally connect with, support and serve NLCNZ pastors
  • To develop and work with New Life International (NLI)
  • To explore greater connection with Australia (initially co-opt Gary Dench, Australia New Life Leader, to ALT for some/all meetings)
  • To explore South Pacific connection
  • ALT have the power to co-opt specialist people but it is recommended that the core team remain around 5-7 people
  • ALT members are accountable to one another and to the Movement

 

ALT Appointment Criteria 

  • All embracing passion for New Life Movement
  • To be based in or ministering from a New Life Church
  • To carry the distinctive and core values of New Life
  • To embrace the mandate to lead apostolically
  • To accept an initial 3 year appointment
  • To know they are called/given by God to this function
  • Have a track record of growing or building a healthy, thriving ministry (current)
  • To demonstrate ability to raise new leaders
  • Be recognized beyond New Life
  • Have a missional heart (i.e. extending not maintaining the kingdom)
  • Have the value of a family of Churches
  • Be willing to accept and activate a portfolio of responsibility
  • Be endorsed and supported in this role by their local church
  • Have broad acceptance by greater New Life pastors
  • A good report from those in society and business (including a written reference)
  • Review and appointment/re-appointment will be on a three yearly basis with appointments being confirmed at National Conference (Next review: 2011)

To facilitate relationships and support, NLCNZ is composed of 6 geographic regions with appointed leaders. Additionally there are some specialist leaders.

  Resources and funding are made available to each region to assist with regional activity

 

Appointment of Regional Leaders

  • 1. Regional Leaders are appointed by the ALT in conjunction with credentialed pastors of the region
  • 2. Appointments are made/confirmed every three years (Next review: 2010)

 

Guidelines For Appointment

Regional Leaders must be selected from those ministers in NLCNZ who:

  • 1. Are serving in a local church that is fully supportive of NLCNZ (including participation at National Conferences and meeting the financial responsibilities of National Vision Funding and Liability Insurance)
  • 2. Have the endorsement of the eldership/leadership of their local church to release them for the regional role
  • 3. Demonstrate a capacity for leadership beyond their local church
  • 4. Practice and promote the vision and values of NLCNZ

 

Responsibilities of Regional Leaders

  • 1. To support, encourage and bring counsel as required to NLCNZ pastors in the region
  • 2. To convene inspiring Regional Meetings, Ministry Action Schools/Regional Conferences for the purposes of personal and professional development and fellowship (at least 4 gatherings per year)
  • 3. To co-opt a team to assist in regional leadership (team members must meet the above criteria)
  • 4. To work with the ALT to: strengthen the pastors and churches in the region; promote national initiatives; identify emerging ministries.
  • 5. To meet with the ALT at least twice a year - National Conference and Regional/ALT meeting.
  • 6. In major decisions of doctrine and government, to refer back to the region for adequate discussion and feedback before final decisions are made at ALT meetings or the National Conference.
  • 7. To identify and mentor and potential regional leaders.
